With the help of many people including the Glenndinnings we had successful toy run despite the elements. At least it wasn't snowing but it was cold. The hot cider was very helpful for warming people up. Feed the children was a gracious as ever. And remember these toys are going to stay right here in okalahoma county. These are kids in our neighbor hoods. Start saving for next year.
Thanks to the wonderful thoughts of Pat McManus I also have several pictures of the event. Rather than posting every picture on the page. Here is a link to the directory and you can view them from there.
Our 14th Annual parade to the capital to honor our veterns was a very special event this year. Following the ceremony from the capital we were then escorted to del-city for the inagural memorial opening. Wow what an amazing memorial they are building there. There were several hundred over 275 bikes. We were able to due a little fund raising for our chapter as well.
Just before our annual Memorial Day Run our Sunset Chapter is hosting the Carry the Flames / Rolling Thunder on May Sunday 23rd. Be sure to check this out
This event is not about Abate but the great men and women who have served our country. The sacrifice to their own familes, their personal sacrifice, and what our service men and women have done for every person living in the United States. It has been growing every year and we continue to get more veterns, children, oklahomans from every walk of life, job, and people from out of state who come to visit our Venterns Memorial at the state capitol. Last year on Vertans day I met a gentlemen from Ohio, a former service men, who was writing a book on memorial parks. Of all these great parks in the country Oklahoma Veterns Memorial made his list of must see's to include in his book. Join us at the Skyline, enjoy the parade, service at the Vcterns Memorial, and hotdogs sponsered by the American Legion.
Our annual fundraiser that we do for charity will once again be for the Jesus House. Right here in OKC they are one of the few charities that will don't resell your donations. They actually give it to someone who can use it. They will help the mentally, addicted, and support those that most charities will. I give personally every year. Last year our family gave clothes, beds, applicances, furniture, book shelves, books, and who knows what elese of mine my wife doesn't want. She wont' touch my motorcyle though...
But seriously, come join us for a casual run, and drop off any kind of donation. The Jesus House will have their trailer at the Skyline Restaurant. We will also have drop boxes off at several locations around the metro so look out for them at locale shopts.
Here is the scoop for our legistlative breakfast. Please come join us and talk to your legislative representative. If you don't know who they are we can tell you when you get there. We will have talking points on current legislative items, snacks, juice, and will help you along the way.
This is probably the most important event that will effect the laws in Oklahoma for all motorcyclists in this great state. Please plan on attending and meeting your legislative representatives.
